In January, Elder Hara, an Asia North Area Seventy, invited Brother Bayartsogt and Sister Munkhgerel to serve as administrators for the August event. From the moment they accepted, the couple prayed for guidance and felt inspired by the theme. “Wherever they are in life, they can do something ‘Starting Today,’” Brother Bayartsogt said. The theme also struck a chord with Enkhchimeg, recently returned from her mission in Australia: “Hesitation makes us feel tortured inside. We need to make a decision and move forward today!”

From August 8–10, 194 young single adults and 34 volunteer leaders gathered at The World Resort Terelj, near the iconic Turtle Rock. Surrounded by pine forests and towering rock formations, participants enjoyed a peaceful setting perfect for connection and reflection. The resort offered gers, cabins, and hotel rooms, and staff ensured comfortable lodging, delicious meals, and well-equipped meeting spaces.

Spiritual Growth and Symbolic Lessons
The second day featured uplifting addresses from Elder Hara and Elder Teh, General Authority Seventy and newly called 2nd Counselor in the Asia North Area Presidency. Workshops covered topics from Family History to balancing spiritual and physical health, building positive relationships, and learning about BYU–Hawaii and BYU–Pathway programs.

That evening, participants experienced a powerful activity inspired by Lehi’s vision of the Tree of Life. Guided by a rope through a dark forest — representing the iron rod — they arrived at a brilliantly lit tree adorned with tiny lights and larger white lights symbolizing the precious fruit from 1 Nephi 8:11. “It reminded me to look unto Christ in all that I do,” said Unubold, a recent return missionary. For Naran Bileg, soon to serve in Indiana, the iron rod brought to mind Joshua 1:5 and the assurance that God never forsakes His people.

Friendship and Fun
Alongside the spiritual focus, there was plenty of time for games, laughter, and new friendships. Some activities were organized, while others emerged spontaneously as groups gathered to play, talk, and encourage one another. For Egshiglen, attending her second YSA conference — the first before her mission and the second after — the difference was striking. “Before my mission I was quiet and shy. Now I just want to meet people and be their friend.”

Service with a Smile
On the final day, after sacrament meeting, participants braved the rain to clean up the Turtle Rock area, leaving the site more beautiful than they found it.
Looking back, participants agreed the conference was a tremendous success. Egshiglen, who initially didn’t want to attend, said, “I’m really glad I came — I’ve loved it!” Brother Bayartsogt and Sister Munkhgerel shared their hope for all who came: “We wanted them to know they don’t have to be perfect to be loved by Heavenly Father. He loves them just as they are. Every day is a new start.”
